Data sources

amodb compiles movie and TV metadata from several upstream datasets and keeps TMDB v3 ids, so records match TMDB and IMDb ids one to one. Responses are cached at the edge for 10 minutes to 24 hours. Posters, backdrops and third party scores belong to their owners. Report a wrong value to support@amodb.dev.

What the data covers

  • Movies, TV shows, seasons, episodes, people, companies, networks, collections, genres and keywords, in the TMDB v3 shapes.
  • Translations in 14 languages for titles, overviews, names and taglines where a translation exists.
  • External ids: imdb_id, tvdb_id, wikidata_id and kinopoisk_id, used by /3/find/{external_id}.
  • amodb extensions: moods, soundtracks, ratings, structured facts and cinema showtimes.

Ids

Every record keeps its TMDB v3 id. A movie that is 550 in a TMDB client is 550 in amodb, and imdb_id matches the IMDb title id. This is why a client can switch base URLs without remapping its database.

A change in the source reaches you after the cache time of that path at most.

Images

Posters, backdrops, logos and photos belong to studios, distributors and other rights holders. amodb hosts them so your app can show them next to the matching record. You are responsible for how you use them in your product.

Scores

The ratings extension returns scores published by other services under the keys imdb, kinopoisk, metacritic, rotten_tomatoes and tmdb, each with a value and a vote count or null. The scores belong to the services that publish them. Show the name of the source next to a score.

Report an error

Write to support@amodb.dev with the endpoint, the id, the field, the wrong value and the correct value with a public source. We review every report. A confirmed fix reaches the API after the cache time of that path.
